Unit 1
Face Sculpture
For my very first piece, I think this sculpture went decently well. I molded a pretty interesting shape with my clay and just went from there. I do wish, however, that I had put more effort into smoothing it out. It has too many small crevasses and indentations. I also excessively thinned and hallowed out the back in fear of the piece catching air bubbles
Name Stamp
I'm happy with my stamp. The letters are a bit deformed and crooked, but it does the job. The letters are elevated enough to make a mark. I initially planned to scrap this stamp because I thought the small handle I scored and slipped on would fall off after being fired, but, to my surprise, it stayed on. If if were to do this again I would likely shape a long, thick coil of clay stemming from the head of the stamp it self opposed to painstakingly scoring and slipping it on, trying to avoid air bubbles as much as possible.
Small Painted Pendant
The design of this piece was supposed to be the sun with an ominous rain cloud over it. I'm fairly happy with how the cloud turned out, but the yellow of the sun did not dry well, making it hard to see. If I were to do this project again, I would use a darker shade of yellow for the sun, and maybe add additional designs in the backround.
